Salam, I'm Leyla!

I used to live in La La Land. And I mean that quite literally.

I was married to a professional footballer. We lived across Europe.. Cyprus, Istanbul, Hamburg. Life was full, comfortable and always moving. I was the wife of, the woman who followed along. And honestly? I was happy. I didn't question it.

I was born Muslim. But faith was like wallpaper in my life... always there, never really looked at. I prayed when I needed something. Before a driving exam. Before something scary. That kind of prayer.

And then one night in October 2020 everything collapsed.

What followed were the hardest years of my life. And the most important.

Because in the middle of losing everything I thought I had... I found something I didn't know I was missing. My faith. Really. For the first time.

I'm a single mother of two adult children. I live in the Netherlands. And I wrote a book, not because I planned to, but because I went looking for something I couldn't find. Someone like me. Who had been through something real. Who combined honest faith with real answers.

I couldn't find her. So I became her.

This book is my story. And maybe yours too.
